Reiki
Reiki (霊気, /ˈreɪki/) is an effective complement to different health therapies (McManus, 2017), and for clients who are interested, I can incorporate Reiki into psychotherapy sessions. If we are in-person, the Reiki session will be in-person; if we are virtual, it will be distance Reiki. Please note, Reiki is not a substitute for medical or mental health treatment.
Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing modality that promotes clarity, relaxation, empowerment, and healing. Reiki treats the physical and the psychic, helping with issues such as insomnia, stress, anxiety, fatigue, and depression. It is used in cancer treatment centers, physical therapy facilities, and hospice settings. In addition to present concerns, Reiki can be sent to past or future events to ease our anxiety about and alter our perceptions of said events.
Some of my clients have used Reiki for:
Groundedness and an open heart before a trip home for the holidays
An increased sense of direction regarding career
Reduced anxiety about an upcoming difficult conversation
Relationship trauma
Distance Reiki
With distance Reiki, I will beam energy to different parts and chakras of your body to improve flow and balance energy within. You may see colors, feel warmth, or experience tingling—or you may feel nothing but a deep sense of peace. Whatever the case, rest assured the energy is working inside of you and will continue to for a couple days.
Distance Reiki is effective (Dyer at al., 2023) and works just as well as in-person Reiki. The reason is two-fold. First, Reiki is limited by neither time nor space. Just as it can reach the past or future, it can reach you, wherever you are. Reiki works through energy, and it is this same energy that allows you to feel someone’s love even if they are thousands of miles away. Second, most clients are more relaxed and open to receiving in the comfort of their own homes.
