Reiki
Reiki is an effective complement to different health therapies (McManus, 2017), and in addition to psychotherapy, I offer optional 20 or 30 minute distance Reiki sessions at the end of therapy to help integrate your therapy experience.
Reiki (霊気, /ˈreɪki/) is an ancient Japanese healing modality that promotes clarity, relaxation, empowerment, and healing. Reiki treats the physical and the psychic, helping with issues such as insomnia, stress, anxiety, fatigue, and depression. It is used in cancer treatment centers, physical therapy facilities, and hospice settings. In addition to present concerns, Reiki can be sent to past or future events to ease our anxiety about and alter our perceptions of said events.
Some of my clients’ concerns have included the following:
Groundedness and an open heart before a trip home for the holidays
An increased sense of direction regarding career
An upcoming difficult conversation
Relationship trauma
A herniated disc
Distance Reiki
With distance Reiki, I will beam energy to different parts and chakras of your body to improve flow and balance energy within. You may see colors, feel warmth, or experience tingling—or you may feel nothing but a deep sense of peace. Whatever the case, rest assured the energy is working inside of you and will continue to for a couple days.
Distance Reiki is effective (Dyer at al., 2023) and works just as well as in-person Reiki. The reason is two-fold. First, Reiki is limited by neither time nor space. Just as it can reach the past or future, it can reach you, wherever you are. Reiki works through energy, and it is this same energy that allows you to feel someone’s love, even if they are thousands of miles away. Second, most clients are more relaxed and open to receiving in the comfort of their own homes.
Fees
20 minutes: $40 (first session complimentary)

Logistics
A standard psychotherapy session is 45-50 minutes, but if you’d like distance Reiki afterwards, our psychotherapy session will end at 45 minutes. We will take few moments to discuss intentions, I will send distance Reiki for 20 or 30 minutes, and then we will use the last couple minutes to share anything we may have experienced.
There is the option of staying online during our session, though you are welcome to “log off” or turn your camera off if you prefer. Most clients choose to lie down and close their eyes, but you may also stay seated. Do whatever makes you feel most comfortable. It is normal and okay if you fall asleep—it is actually a sign of deep relaxation. The Reiki is still working through you. I will let you know when the session is over.
For a 20-minute session, the total time (including psychotherapy) is around 65 minutes. For a 30-minute session, the total time (including psychotherapy) is around 75 minutes.
